OPEN WHEEL TERM
3 hours x 8 weeks
450 – 8x 3 hour classes
This is open term for Wheel Throwers who desire to make their own projects. This is an unstructured class with a teacher present to help your with your work, whatever that may be; Teapots, Large Vases, Mugs, Dinner sets, or just perfecting the simple things through repetition.
These classes are suited to potters that have already learnt the basics. Please don’t sign up to this class if you haven’t tried the wheel before as the teacher will not be able to cater to you. You’ll find the 8 Week Beginners Wheel term much more fun.
Open Wheel students will get 10kg of firing included with term fees. After this quota, firing is charged at $20/kg(slightly cheaper than our standard rate).
Clay is not supplied and you’ll need to purchase clay in the shop for this class. You can bring in clay you have bought elsewhere, but we’ll need to see the bag the clay came in.
Unfortunately we don’t offer refunds or credit for missed classes or signing up to this term accidentally.
FAQ
Cancellations – You can cancel your term class up to 7 days before the start of term for a full refund. Within 10 days is a 10% cancellation fee. Within 3 days no refunds are given, unless another student is found to replace your space, then only the 10% fee is charged with the rest refunded.
Min Class Size – All wheel classes need a minimum of 4 people in the class in order for the class to proceed. If there are less than 4 people, then we reserve the right to cancel the class and give everyone a refund.
Missing Classes – Separate classes in a term are non-transferable. If you miss a class, you may be able to complete a catchup class in another session if there is space available, but most classes are generally full.
Clay – We do not supply clay to students for this class. We sell clay in the studio that can be used and you are welcome to bring your own. Please do not bring earthenware or air dry clay into the classroom as this will melt in our kilns. You will be expected to manage your own reclaim, so bring a small bucket along for this. You are welcome to pour it into our reclaim buckets though.
Firing Temp – We fire to midfire cone 6, 1200 degrees.
Firing Costs – Open Wheel students will get 6kg of firing included with term fees. After this quota, firing is charged at $20/kg(slightly cheaper than our standard rate).
Teachers – Sometimes teachers become unavailable leading up to or during a term, so we may need to change teachers. We will let you know as soon as we find out.
Parking – For the evening classes you are able to park on West St, but during the day West St is only 1 hour parking. Plenty of day parking can be found on streets off West St. There is no parking available in the lane way down the side of the shop.
Glazes – A selection of gazes and slips will be supplied. You are welcome to bring your own cone 6 glazes or buy from the studio store.
